The TRANSMIT Project

TRANSMIT is a 4-year project and involves the recruitment of 16 young researchers to deal with one of the main threats to GNSS , such as the now popular GPS and the new European Galileo - that is the variable propagation conditions encountered by the satellites signals as they pass through the Earth’s upper atmosphere (the ionosphere). The ionosphere delays the signals causing measurement errors, but more importantly it can lead to scintillation phenomena, characterised by sudden signal fluctuations that can cause operational outages.
